LANSING (WKZO) — Governor Rick Snyder has returned from a trip to Italy and Germany to make business connections and to lure overseas jobs to Michigan.
It was his second trip to Italy and Germany and his 10th trade mission.
Snyder says “Our meetings throughout the week with Italian and German business executives focused on the next chapter of cooperation and foreign investment in Michigan. This week has been highly productive in deepening and strengthening significant relationships with businesses bringing investments, expanded facilities and jobs to Michigan.”
Italian and German companies play an important role in the Michigan economy. There are 350 German firms and 40 Italian companies in Michigan, employing about 72-thousand workers.
Last week, Snyder announced that Voxeljet, which builds high-speed, large-format 3-D printers, will locate its first U.S. facility in Canton, Mich.
It will create 15 to 20 new jobs when it opens later this year.
