Italian Companies Will Help More Than Lansing

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Bringing jobs to the capital city and improving mid-Michigan were part of Mayor Virg Bernero’s State of the City address Thursday.

They’re from Italy, but the men representing Saet Group and SATIZ Technical Publishing & Multimedia aren’t wasting time calling Mid-Michigan their home.

“We think there is an extremely robust pipeline available from Italy and this really pops the cork off that pipeline,” said Leap Sr. VP Global Business Development, Ray De Winkle.

A pipeline that Ray De Winkles says has been three years in the making. They’ll bring 40 jobs along the way with them.

“The size of the city is the right one and we think. We don’t want to be too small fish in a big sea. Here is the right place,” said North American Service Manager Saet Group.

The capital city’s location to Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago, other cities where Saet Group builds machines for auto groups such as FIAT and other companies made it a good choice.

“You need to be global you can’t just stay in your market,” said Alessandro Rosso CEO SATIZ Technical Publishing and Multimedia.

Alessandro Rosso originally wasn’t part of the plans, but decided it was time to expand his technical publishing company which develops engineer manuals for auto suppliers.

“Its a big move but I strongly believe in it,” Rosso said.

A move that Mayor Bernero believes will lead to bigger and better opportunities down the road.

LEAP says this move will not only help Lansing, but surrounding areas. The companies will set up shop in East Lansing as a temporary office,  until a larger facility is needed.

“Jobs will come out of our region, investment will come into our regions, the local companies that utilize will come out of our region,” De Winkle said.

Specifics about the 40 jobs such as pay, location and type are stilling being determined.
