Northwood University is presenting a Family Enterprise Forum in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Some of the top names in family-owned businesses will be on a panel from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Griswold Lecture Hall at Northwood.
Attending as panelists are:
• Jim Fabiano Sr., Fabiano Brothers, Inc. (beer and wine sales and distribution)
• Nico Gatzaros, 400 Monroe Properties and America’s Green-line Co. (hotel, real estate, restaurants and high efficient energy lighting sales)
• Beth Gresehover, Go-To Transport, Inc. (trucking/logistics and software)
• Kathie Fuce-Hobohm, SPACE, Inc. (interior design and redesign)
• Joe Serra, The Serra Automotive Group (automobile sales, dealership operations and real estate management)
Moderator is Dr. Keith A. Pretty, CEO and president of Northwood University.
Fabiano, CEO and chairman of the board of Fabiano Brothers, Inc. of Bay County. The company was started in 1885 by his grandfather Gennaro Fabiano in San Ippolito, Italy. The company is now in its fourth generation of leadership with James Fabiano II and Joseph Fabiano II. The company distributes domestic and imported beer and wine to several counties in Michigan and recently expanded beverage operations to Wisconsin and Indiana. Mr. Fabiano is a well-known civic steward in Michigan and at the national level with too many accomplishments to mention today. Mr. Fabiano has been recognized as a Northwood University Outstanding Business Leader and as a recipient of an honorary doctorate from Northwood. He earned a bachelor in finance from Central Michigan University. He also served as a former board chair of Central Michigan University and Isabella Bank Corp.
Gatzaros graduated from Northwood University with a business administration degree focused in marketing. Gatzaros now is an experienced owner at 400 Monroe Associates, working to better Detroit one restaurant at a time. Gatzaros also owns Fishbones, Americas Green Line LED, and The London Chop House.
Gresehover is the business development and marketing manager at GOTO Transport and Transit Solutions, a family-owned, asset-based trucking company headquartered in Bay City. GOTO Transport is the second largest woman-owned trucking company in the state of Michigan. Dedication to service and safety has helped GOTO earn numerous Carrier of the Year awards from customers including General Motors, The Home Depot and Compass Minerals. Beth graduated with honors earning her BBA in marketing and management from Northwood in 2004. She has held various positions since joining the company in 2005.
Fuce-Hobohm is the owner of SPACE, Inc., a quality company that specializes in marketing functional office interiors in Midland. In 2007, SPACE was recognized as a Michigan 50 Companies to Watch. In 2010 the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center named SPACE the Best Small Company in Region 5 and in 2012 the company received a Best in Class Dealership award from Haworth, Inc.
Fuce-Hobohm has over thirty years of experience in office interior sales and service. As the dealer principal of SPACE, she directs the marketing and financial strategies and operations for the company. An honor graduate from Central Michigan University, she studied behavioral and industrial psychology at Western Michigan University.
She has served on the boards of the Midland Business Incubator, Midland Noon Rotary Club, CBM Services, the Lake Huron Council Boy Scouts of America, and the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce.
Serra is the president of Serra Automotive that currently owns 29 facilities and 42 franchises throughout the United States. Serra has a multitude of automotive experience such as general manager of Al Serra Chevrolet, president of Serra Automotive, dealer operator of Al Serra Buick-GMC, and previous member of founding team for Driver’s Mart Worldwide, Inc.
The Serra Automotive group is one of the 25 largest automotive groups in the United States, with sales in excess of $1 billion dollars annually. Serra is one of only six dealers to receive General Motor’s Dealer of the Year award each year since its inception. He is an accounting graduate of Albion College where he played basketball for four years.
